Deregulation: Nigerians in Diaspora envisage economic rebirth for nation

The Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group has envisaged economic rebirth for the nation in the follow up to the liberalisation of petroleum downstream sector by the current administration.

The United Kingdom Coordinator of the group, Adeka Onyilowhile while speaking with DAILY POST in Abuja, described the move as an uncommon courage by the present administration that will put the nation on pedestal of economic boom in the nearest future.

He noted that the National Assembly should see reasons on the need to support government with appropriate laws that would sustain the sector.

“Those of us in Diaspora have seen commitment of government in this regard for daring to do the right thing at a time of serious economic downturn; the nation’s Parliament should complement it with enabling laws for sustainability”, the coordinator said.

Onyilo was optimistic that the rot, which was inherited by the ‎Buhari administration, that left Nigerians suffering on fuel queues, would ease in no distant time.

“The cartel that acquires FOREX from government under the guise of importing petrol only embark on round tripping has been severed from the supply chain, which leaves government with resources to invest in other sectors of the economy”, he added.

He called on the Petroleum Pricing and Regulatory Agency to ensure strict enforcement of price cap to avoid shortchanging of Nigerians.
