Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu storms tribunal in support of Saraki


The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, just arrived the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, in support of his boss, the Senate President.

Saraki, who is a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is standing trial at the tribunal for false declaration of assets and other criminal charges while he was the governor of Kwara State.

Donning  a white agbada and a red cap to match, the Deputy President entered the tribunal hall to the admiration of fellow Senators.

In the course of today’s trial, the prosecution witness who is an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Michael Wetkas had informed the court that he was not involved in the investigations of some documents he had previously tendered before the tribunal.

The EFCC had tendered some documents before the tribunal on how the Senate President allegedly diverted state funds while he was Governor of Kwara State.

Wetkas had also in the previous proceedings disclosed how Saraki had used over N522m to purchase a property in Ikoyi Lagos.
