Deputy Senate Leader, Na’allah speaks on ‘plot’ to remove Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, has reacted to the alleged plot by All Progressives Congress (APC) senators to remove Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu from the position.

Na’allah, who spoke at the APC National Secretariat yesterday, said he was not aware of any such ‘plot’.

His reaction followed moves by APC senators to fill the position with one of them, insisting that Ekweremadu, a PDP member, should defect or vacate the seat.

Na’Allah said: “All these things happened when I was out of this country. I was in Germany and it is not in my character to speak about what I don’t know.

“But as far as I am concerned, there is nothing near to that (Ekweremadu’s removal). I am not aware. At least, I am back and I am in the office.

“APC is a big family and everybody is welcome. We are strengthening the party based on our belief that this country needs to be united at this critical time of our history.

“So, I am absolutely sure that it will be a very nice thing if he decides to come. It will equally be nice if we are able to see that any other person with the intention joins our great party.”

On whether he was at the secretariat to meet the party leadership on the happening in the Senate, he said: “This is the headquarters of my party and my national chairman requested to see me. That is why I am here. It has nothing to do with what transpired in the Senate.

“If you want me to tell you why I am here, we have primary in Edo state to fill the vacancy left by the deputy governor, who left the House of Representatives and I am the chairman of the committee; I just came to receive the normal briefing.”
