Deportation saga: South-East APC begs Ndigbo to forgive Fashola

The All Progressives Congress (APC), South-East zone has appealed to Ndigbo and the people of Anambra in particular to forgive Governor Babatunde Fashola for the recent ‘deportation’ of 14 Anambra indigenes from Lagos State to Onitsha.

The governor had since rendered an unreserved apology to the Igbos over the July 24 dumping of some alleged destitute in Onitsha, Anambra State by his administration, saying, “the action of our government was misunderstood’’

The party also begged Ndigbo to bury the hatchet, especially those who are using same against Senator Chris Ngige who is the flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra state.

In a statement through the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu, South-East APC warned that the mistake of some Lagos State government officials should not be used to deny Anambrarians the golden opportunity to elect Senator Ngige to complete the good work he had since started.

The party also stressed that Anambrians must be weary of those money mongers and big bankers whose manifesto is mere propaganda and whose only interest is profit motive.

The statement reads in parts, “Now that Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola has tendered unqualified and unreserved apology. We plead with Ndigbo and Anambrarians in particular to forgive and forget. To err is human and to forgive is divine.

“Ngige, we must recall opened our eyes to what prudent management of state revenue can achieve, before then, the governors only shared the money and abandoned projects.

“It is also germane to note the roads Ngige tarred years ago are more durable than that of Governor Obi” the party stated.

It reminded Ndigbo not to forget that it pays to place the bigger picture ahead in their calculations and the bigger picture in this instance is to elect Senator Ngige, who is a tested and trusted hand. The statement further added that, “They will tell you that Ngige is stingy. Yes, Ngige is stingy, because he defends the interest of the greatest number of Anambrians and not the few big men.
