Delta police arrests Okowa, two others over alleged kidnapping

The Police in Ekpan, Uwvie Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested one Jacob Okowa and two others for allegedly kidnapping one Mr. Paul Okokoro Suru, a native of Akuku-Edo in Edo State, DAILY POST reports.

The two other suspects arrested are Godspower Otebila and Joseph Otemu.

The fourth suspect, Promise Okoh and the leader of the gang who is simply identified as Mr. Felix from Edo State but resident in Udu area are on the run.

The suspects were arrested based on information received about the kidnapping.

On Wednesday, 17th May, a team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Division, CSP Ahmed Ibn Umar arrested three of the suspects around Idumumena Quarters of Ekpan after mapping out the area on intelligence.

It was gathered that the suspects have all confessed to committing the crime while efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects, Promise Okoh and the gang leader, Mr. Felix have been intensified.

Narrating his ordeal in the hands of his abductors, Mr. Paul claimed that Felix lured him from Lagos where he resides to Delta State under the pretext of awarding him a contract.

Paul stated that Felix who claimed to be a Management Staff of NNPC invited him to come and inspect some vessels.

On getting to the Effurun Roundabout, he was picked by four other suspects who work with Felix and taken to an unknown destination at about 12:30pm on Saturday 13th May, 2017.

His mobile phone and other personal effects including his ECOWAS passport were forcefully collected from him.

Paul also claimed that his mobile phone was later used to negotiate ransom with his family by his abductors.

Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Ahmed Ibn Umar referred Our Correspondent to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka in Asaba saying “I do not have the authority to speak with the press.”
