Delta police arrests five hoodlums, one gunned down


The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspected armed robbers and gunned down one other.

They equally recovered arms in separate operations in Out-Jeremi and Osubi in Ughelli South and Okpe Local Government Areas, respectively.

Those arrested include Goodluck Siakpere ‘m’ 18yrs from Orhunwhorhun town, Idewu David John ‘m’, Kevwe Ocharive ‘m’ both from Ekakpamre communities, one Mrs. Idewu and Faith Onseh.

The police also said that they recovered one cut to size gun and one AAA Catridge from the suspected armed robbers.

In a press statement made available to newsmen, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Celestina Kalu claimed that the suspects were arrested by a patrol team of the police with the assistance of the vigilante at Iwhrekan Community shortly after one Dudu Augustine ‘m’ and Stanley Odekhe ‘m’ both from Iwhrekan Community reported at the station in Out-Jeremi that they had been robbed of their mobile phones by three armed robbers on 1/10/2016.

The police further stated that the unidentified suspect was gunned down in an exchange of fire after they (police heard) gunshot sounds from Okomowa Street, opposite Lawfab hotel in Osubi Community.

According to the police, the suspected armed robbers numbering six opened fire on them and in the process they gunned down one of them and recovered one locally made gun and one live cartridge.
