Delta Police arrests 3 suspects over alleged kidnap, murder of 64-year-old man

The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected gunmen, Halilu Ishaku, Nyale Mohammed and Mohammed Shumu for the alleged kidnap and murder of a sixty four year old man, Mr. Emeka Chimaokwu, along Idumuje Unor road, Issele-uku.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim disclosed this in a statement signed by the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka.

CP Ibrahim stated that the victim’s phone was tracked and one Nyale Mohammed ‘m’ of Kogi state was arrested.

CP Ibrahim disclosed that Nyale Mohammed, 25years old, confessed to the crime and mentioned his gang members.

Based on Nyale Mohammed’s confessional statement, the second suspect Halilu Ishaku ‘m’ of Kogi state, but resident at Onicha-Olona was also arrested and he also admitted to the crime.

According to CP Ibrahim, “On 12/10/2017, both suspects led the investigating team to the bush where the decomposing remains of the victim was found where it was hidden with bamboo leaves inside a forest at Atuma Quarters, Idumuje-unor.”

CP Ibrahim stated that the corpse has been deposited at Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for autopsy.

CP Ibrahim noted that the arrest of the 1st and 2nd suspects led to the arrest of the third suspect who although denied being involved in this kidnap, confessed being part of the kidnapping syndicate that kidnapped Eng. Charles Chukwuemeka Eze and Rev. Father Andrew Anah of Sacred Catholic Church Obomkpa on 1/8/2017 along Obomkpa –Issele-Uku road.

He stressed that Investigations were still in progress.
