Ahead of the 2019 elections, leaders and youths of Delta State Isoko North People’s Democratic party ( PDP) on Wednesday settled their age-long crisis, saying they are ready to work for the party’s victory at all levels, and endorsed Atiku Abubakar for President in 2019.
The party chieftains, including the youths, who briefed newsmen in the area, disclosed that they have resolved to put aside all the differences to work for the victory of the party and deliver all candidates of the party from presidential to the House of Assembly, adding that it was the only way to sustain peace, development initiated by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa since 2015 when he assumed Office as the Governor of Delta State .
Delta North PDP Chairman, Godwin Ogorugba, who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the party leaders and youths, disclosed that their decision to bury the hatchet was informed by the uncommon leadership styles of Governor Okowa anchored on peace, reconciliation and good governance.
According to him, “Basically, all rancour within the PDP in Isoko North have been resolved with the reconciliation we had on Sunday. We all have agreed that we should work for the party to ensure total victory. We also agreed to mobilize supports for all the party’s candidates in tandem with our policy in Isoko North and Delta State. We appeal to our teeming supporters to also bury their anger to ensure victory for the party all the way.”
On why they endorsed Atiku for president, Chief Ogorugba explained that Atiku by all standards is the only hope for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria and improved economy as well as hope for the employment of the unemployed youths across the country.
He said, “Come election period, we will mobilize for the victory of Abubakar Atiku, Dr ifeanyi Okowa,others of our great party, PDP. This was part of our resolution at the meeting.”
