A fatal auto crash which occurred in the early hours of on Saturday in Urhovie Abraka community in Delta state, claimed the lives of three passengers, while others sustained injuries.
Two vehicles had an head-on collusion, a situation that unsettled residents of the Urhovie Abraka community.
Eyewitness, Mabel Urhovo told DAILY POST in Asaba: “The two vehicles were on a head on collusion as the both were descending the fly over at Urhovie Abraka.
“In the process, one the vehicles with registration number AS126ASB somersaulted twice to face the coming vehicle before it went into flame.
“Three passengers inside it were roasted, eight others in the other vehicle were injured ”
It was gathered that the police in Abraka Division including officials of the Federal Road Safety corps (FRSC) battled to save the lives of others, who were also in critical state, before they were taken to the hospital
FRSC Commander in the state, Mr Random Kulven, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.
He said “The accident was unfortunate. It was a head on collusion, because both drivers were on top speed.
“Three passengers burned, eight others escaped death but were seriously injured; they are in critical state in the hospital ”
Investigation revealed that Urhovie Abraka community, three weeks before the incident, recorded sixteen crashes on the same spot with no fewer than nine deaths.
Residents of Urhovie Abraka community who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity, blamed the frequent accident on the Delta government alleged neglect of the fly over, adding that the spot would continue to take lives until urgent steps are taken to fix it.
Chief James Augoye, the state commissioner for works, told DAILY POST: “We have taken notice of the deplorable state of the fly over.
“Very soon, work will start to reduce the frequent accidents in the place”.
