Aladja Community, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has blamed the deplorable state of infrastructures in Aladja Grammar School on the past administrations of former Governor James Ibori and Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan.
The Community made the assertion when the Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie visited the institution.
Speaking on behalf of Aladja Community Mr. Harrison Ogbiruveta said the school was now “a shadow of itself with dilapidated buildings, with little or no seats for, students who receive lessons as they sit on bare floor, shattered roofs as well as refuse and weeds which currently litters the premises.”
Mr. Ogbiruveta also noted that the school was in need of a perimeter fence to obstruct land grabbers from encroaching on its land.
Mr. Ogbiruveta said, “The decay of infrastructures in Aladja Grammar School is as a result of the lackadaisical attitudes of successive governments to the cries of Aladja Community.”
Mr. Ogbiruveta narrated how Aladja Grammar school was renovated by the self efforts of the community severally.
He also stated that the school would have been a “cynosure of all eyes” if the government cared about investing in education, particularly in Aladja Community.
Responding, the Delta State Commissioner for Basic & Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie expressed displeasure over the decayed infrastructures in the school and promised to expedite actions on the renovation works.
Mr. Ebie also advised that instead of constructing new structures in the school, the dilapidated buildings should be renovated.
