he Delta State Government has congratulated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for emerging as the party’s standard-bearer in next year’s election.
Uduaghan, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah, said: “we congratulate the distinguished senator on the well-deserved victory. With the Delta State PDP now through with credible primaries, we urge all Deltans to imbibe the virtues of tolerance and fair play exhibited by the contestants.
“We also commend all the contestants for upholding the party’s tenets of fairness, discipline, loyalty and camaraderie throughout the campaigns and actual voting.
“That more than 20 distinguished Deltans, each eminently qualified to lead the state, took active part in the PDP gubernatorial primaries is a testament to the confidence in the electoral process engendered by the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the state governor, who created a level playing field for the emergence of the people’s choice.
“Through the peaceful and successful conduct of the primaries, Delta State has proved that it is a bastion of the PDP and is primed to continue to sustain the atmosphere of peace and development in the coming dispensation”.
The statement urged the contestants, PDP leaders and stakeholders in the state to rally round Okowa to ensure the continuation of a PDP government in 2015.
