Dele Giwa’s mother, Elekhia, passes on

Madam Elekhia Giwa is dead. The information was passed from the official handle of TELL Magazine, @TellNG.

Their tweet simply read: “Madam Elekhia Giwa, mother of late Dele Giwa, 1st E-in-C of Newswatch, has died.”

Madam Giwa was the mother of Dele Giwa, the Nigerian journalist, editor and founder of Newswatch magazine, who was killed by a letter bomb in his home on 19 October, 1986 – two days after he had been interviewed by State Security Service (SSS) officials.

The cause of her death was not ascertained at the time of filing this report.
