Contrary to insinuations at some quarters that major stakeholders in Ogbadibo LGA may have concluded arrangements to defect from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Member representing Ogbadibo State Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Joe Ojobo has cleared the air, saying it was the figment of rumour mongers’ imagination.

Ojobo who addressed Journalists in his residence on Friday, said he had no intention of leaving the umbrella party now that his wealth of experience is needed to build and revamp the party.”When your house is messed up, the rational thing to do is to stay and tidy up the mess, and make it habitable,” Ojobo said.

The Owukpa-born vibrant legislator who was recently nominated for the award of ‘Outstanding Idoma Lawmaker of the year’, for his effrontery in defending the dignity of Idoma nation against all odds, said there was need for a strong opposition as everyone cannot belong to one party in a democratic arrangement.”Some persons were in opposition yesterday and brought about change today,”he added.

Honourable Ojobo also used the opportunity to appreciate the good people of Ogbadibo LGA for always standing by him and his party, PDP, urging them to remain steadfast at this trying moment.

In a related development, the office of member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives has also debunked the rumour going round the media of the defection of Rt. Hon. Hassan Saleh.

A statement obtained from the Senior Legislative Assistant to the Honourable Member, Steve Okwori on Thursday said, “the rumour is not only untrue but it is also fallacious and unthinkable”.

Early this week, the social media was awash with the rumour of major political stakeholders from Ogbadibo LGA defecting to the APC; wherein the names of Chief Steven Lawani, Prof. Jerry Agada, Rt. Hon. Hassan Saleh and Mr. Clement Agada were prominent.
