Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday said he was not surprised over the sudden defection of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, to the APC.
Akpabio said he was expecting that to happen before now because Tambuwal was only a PDP member by name.
Akpabio, however, said he expects Tambuwal to resign, adding that irrespective of his defection, the PDP remains the majority in the house.
He said, “We have always known the Speaker as a PDP man in name but APC in action and he has proved it to the world. I will only ask him to be honourable and resign especially as the PDP is not in crisis.
“I wish the Speaker well in his new party”.
