One of the top shots of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oruk Anam Local Government, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, Aniekan Etiebet, has dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Etiebet, a nephew to the leader of the APC in the state, Don Etiebet, said he took the decision for the future of his children.
He announced his defection at a solidarity visit to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Friday morning at the Government House, Uyo.
He was led by an aspirant for the Senate under the platform of the PDP, and former Deputy Governor of the State, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong.
He said, “This goes beyond family ties; this is about the future of my kids and indeed the future of other kids from the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
“Governor Udom Emmanuel has been a spectacular success; he has performed spectacularly well, and truth be told, no matter the lies my former party tells, the evidence of the governor’s performance are there for everyone to see.
“The future of Akwa Ibom State, the future of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, the future aspirations of our people is safe and secure in the capable hands of Governor Emmanuel, who by the way, is our son-in-law, hence my decision to defect from the APC to the PDP and work for his second term victory.”
