Debuchy ‘disappointed’ after Wenger blocks United move

Mathieu Debuchy has claimed that Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, blocked a deadline day transfer to Manchester United, as he did not want to help a rival.

The defender eventually left the Emirates Stadium for Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux in loan until the end of the season.

“I was disappointed, obviously. If I had the chance to go to Manchester United it would have been magnificent,” he told Canal+.

“Unfortunately it wasn’t the case. I discussed it with the coach too, who said that obviously he couldn’t help out a rival.

“Yes, I’m a little bit annoyed with him. It’s his choice.”

Debuchy signed for the Gunners in July 2014 from Newcastle and has been displaced from the first team, by Spanish right-back, Hector Bellerin.
