Dasukigate: I will speak on arms deal scandal at the right time – Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed that he will speak on the controversy surrounding the appropriation of the funds meant for the procurement of arms under his government by the then National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The president Muhammadu Buhari-led government had launched a probe, which led to the arrest of Dasuki and some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They were accused of diverting security funds into Jonathan’s reelection campaign.

Consequently, there have been pressure on the ex-president to speak out over the matter.

But in series of messages on his Twitter handle, Jonathan, who at the moment is in Geneva, Switzerland, where he is holding a press conference, said he would react to the issue when the time was ripe.

Airing his views via series of tweets, the former president said Nigerians will hear from him at the right time.

“My voice will certainly be heard at the appropriate time regarding the alleged arms funds mismanagement,” he tweeted.

“I would not want to interfere with the proceeding by the judicial system that my administration worked tirelessly to strengthen.

“My post presidential focus is advancing democracy and good governance in Africa. If we do not spend billions to educate Africa’s youths today, we will spend it fighting insecurity tomorrow”, he added.
