Emmanuel Anene, a legal practitioner, has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s war against corruption.
Featuring on Channels Television, the legal practitioner insisted that the Buhari’s administration is only pretending to be fighting graft.
Anene wondered why bail granted former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) by different courts have not been obeyed in nearly two years.
“Government is pretending that they are fighting corruption. Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and even the lower courts have repeatedly ruled that you should not use bail as a punishment.
“If the government is serious about prosecuting Dasuki, why will it take it them two years to determine the bail of Dasuki?”
Meanwhile, Dasuki has pleaded with the Federal High Court in Abuja to adjourn indefinitely his trial in the charges of unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering brought against him since 2015 by the Federal government.
Dasuki, in a motion on notice argued by his counsel, Mr. Ahmed Raji, SAN, said the adjournment became imperative because he has referred to constitutional issues that arose in the course of his trial to the Court of Appeal for determination.
