The presidency has confirmed the release of Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed this to newsmen in Abuja.
Shehu promised to give further details on the development later.
“Yes, the girls are being transported to safety. We will give details later. We thank God,” he said.
DAILY POST earlier reported that Boko Haram, on Wednesday returned the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls kidnapped from the Government Girls School in Yobe.
The insurgents group returned the girls in nine vehicles, an episode similar to how they were taken away.
Our Correspondent gathered that there was confusion in the area as members of the community scampered upon sighting the vehicles.
From the sketchy details, DAILY POST gathered that five of the girls may have died while in custody of the insurgents.
