Aliko Dangote has said that Arsenal Football Club need new ownership, if they are to change their fortunes in the Premier League.

The Nigerian business magnate, who is adjudged to be the richest man in Africa, has in the past indicated interest in buying the English club.

“They are doing well, but they need another strategic direction,” Dangote told BBC.

“They need more direction than the current situation, where they just develop players and sell them.”

Dangote, who majorly deals in cement, sugar, salt, etc is planning to go into oil refining and says his new venture, will help him return with a better offer to buy Arsenal.

“There were a couple of us who were rushing to buy, and we thought with the prices then, the people who were interested in selling were trying to go for a kill,” he added.

“When we get this refinery on track, I will have enough time and enough resources to pay what they are asking for.”

American businessman, Stan Kroenke currently holds a 67 percent stake in Arsenal, while Red and White Holdings, backed by Russian magnate Alisher Usmanov, has 30 percent
