Dalung planning to move Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifiers to Abuja

Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, is trying to ensure the Super Eagles play their Russia 2018 World Cup Africa qualifiers at the Abuja National Stadium.

Dalung is reportedly not happy that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has abandoned the stadium for other venues in the country.

“The minister will tell the NFF to ensure that all Super Eagles’ matches are played in Abuja. The minister is wondering why such a beautiful and big stadium should be lying fallow while other parts of the country enjoy big games,” a ministry official divulged to Completesportsnigria.com.

“The idea is to make the Abuja National stadium a home and a fortress for Super Eagles. All the talks of Abuja fans apathy to football matches at the 60,000 capacity stadium does not hold water as the minister is bent on making sure that the stadium play host to big matches.”

It is understood that Dalung is especially not pleased with the overcrowding incident in Kaduna, which resulted in CAF imposing a $5,000 fine on the country.

Nigeria have played some of their recent home games in Uyo, Port Harcourt and Kaduna.
