Dalung denies Sports Ministry officials flew their families to 2016 Olympics

Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has debunked reports in the media, claiming that some officials of the ministry and Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), flew their family members to Brazil for this year’s Olympics.

The report said some officials were with their wives and children on the bill of the ministry.

Special Adviser to Dalung, Maiwada Danmallam, has now rubbished such stories, saying they were baseless and false.

He said: “This is another blackmail and a very cheap one at that and it is very unfortunate that some members of the media have decided to continue to run malicious stories on the Nigeria sports ministry and its efforts to ensure team Nigeria is well represented at the ongoing Olympic games.

“The records are there for everyone to see on how many persons were in the ministry’s delegation to Rio and the ministry has only cater for only those who have business at the games in Brazil.

“The minister will want to appeal to the sporting media not to be bias and malicious in their reportage just because they are looking for what will sell.”
