Dakuku, Amaechi out to frustrate Maritime University – Group

A group under the auspices of Niger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change, NDIMRC, has stated that the Director General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Peterside Dakuku and the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi are out to frustrate the Nigerian Maritime University in Kurutie, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

In a statement signed by Nelly Emma, John Sailor and Stanley Mukoro as President, Secretary and Publuc Relations Officer, respectively, the group urged the presidency to call Dr. Peterside Dakuku to order.

“Dr. Dakuku and his boss, Rotimi Amaechi are out to frustrate the recent visit of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo to the temporary site of the University where he was amazed with the structures he saw on ground”, they claimed.‎

The group noted that the Nigerian Maritime University was an initiative of NIMASA, pointing out that the federal agency cannot shy away its funding.

The group also warned against statements that are capable of rocking the security situation in the region.

“We want to express our disappointment with the NIMASA boss, Dr. Dakuku over his recent statement that the agency cannot fund the Nigerian Maritime University, Okenrenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

“The statement is uncalled for at a time when people are clamouring for the smooth take off of the university.

“This is sad and we are highly disappointed with the NIMASA boss”, they noted.

The group also hailed Ex-Niger Delta militant, High Chief Oweide Govermment Ekpemupolo, Alias Tompolo for providing and erecting massive structures and other facilities at the university.

The group who described Tompolo as a “Hero” also implored the NIMASA boss to join other well meaning people of the region in the facilitating the take off of the university.
