In a rare show of decorum, the dreaded sect Boko Haram, about a week ago proposed an offer of negotiation to the Federal Government of Nigeria. In a tele-press conference, its spokesman Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulaziz, announced the proposition but listed conditions that must be met before a ceasefire accord can be reached.
These include: Arrest and prosecution of former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, compensation of the families of killed members of the Islamist sect while property destroyed during encounters with security agents be rebuilt, also, it requests the release of some members currently in custody.
However, Nigerians hold different opinions on the impending deal. While some welcome the idea stressing that it must be pursued to a meaningful conclusion, others say they doubt the genuineness of the offer, describing it as a ploy.
DailyPost would like to have the views of our esteemed readers, hence we ask: Do you think the Federal Government should negotiate with Boko Haram?
