Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, were beaten 71-60 by Belarus, in their first Group C game at the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in France.
Both teams were tied 14-14 after the first quarter, but the Europeans took the second 24-18 and also won the third quarter 20-13.
D’Tigress edged the last quarter 13-15.
Nigeria will take on South Korea in their final Group C tie on Tuesday at the same venue.
There are a total of 12 teams from five federations taking part in the qualifiers. The top five will qualify for the 2016 Olympics basketball tournament.
