D’Tigress defeated Angola 65-55 on Saturday to finish third at the AfroBasket Women 2015 in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Joyce Ekworomadu led Nigeria’s fine performance with a team-high 15 points, as they kept Olympic hopes alive.

Angola’s best performer was Sonia Guadalupe, who hit three-pointers and scored 13 points, as they finished outside the podium for the first time since 2005.

This means D’Tigress clinched the last available spot for the Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will be played next year.

Nigeria had earlier lost 71-70 to hosts Cameroon in the semi-final.
