The Senator representing Uyo at the National Assembly, Senator Ita Enang, has taken a swipe at the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, counseling him to cut down on his ostentatious lifestyle to meet the demands of running the state.
According to Enang, the crumbling of every sector of the state’s economy following several industrial actions, calls for the state government to reduce its flamboyant lifestyle and seek ways of managing the available income for the benefit of all.
The Senator, while speaking on a live programme on Planet FM 101.1, Thursday, lamented that the state government officials were still going out with exotic cars, some of which were without passengers while Akwa Ibom workers were crying over several months of unpaid salaries.
Enang said: “Considering the current economic realities, we are no longer getting as much as we used to get. It is necessary to cut down on the retinue of cars you are moving with.
“If you go on a campaign and you have about six BMW bikes driving beside you, you have bullet proof jeeps before, beside and behind you, while workers in all sectors are on strike, is that really necessary?”
