The Delta State Chapter of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria,APBN, on Friday, September 15 called on the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, to cut down the number of his political aides as well as release funds for the payment of workers salaries in the State.
The APBN made the call during its working visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel today.
Delta State Chairman of APBN, Mr. John Aikpokpo-Martins enjoined the governor to ensure constant payment of salaries of workers.
“Cut down the number of your aides so that workers can be paid as at when due. It does not add value to the States.”
Aikpokpo-Martins also blasted the Delta State branch of the Nigerian Labour Congress,NLC, for not living up to tasks.
He claimed that there are illegal deductions from the salaries of State and Local Government Civil Servants, and that the NLC is afraid to speak on their behalf.
Aikpokpo-Martins said, “You have not lived up to your tasks in the State. Your members are denied salaries and you are not doing anything at all.”
