The District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa State, Mr Peter Angbazo, has appealed to Nigerians to pray for leaders and stop cursing them for the prosperity of the country.
Angbazo made the appeal on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in his palace at Wakama, Akun Development Area of the state.
He said that the call became imperative considering the negative attitudes of some Nigerians towards their leaders.
“We should always pray for our leaders to enable them succeed in delivering more dividends of democracy to the citizens,’’ he urged.
According to him, whatsoever the effects on the leadership of any society will have a multiplier in their followership.
Besides, he urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the peaceful co-existence of the citizenry.
“As a traditional ruler, we are the custodians of people’s culture and peace, what we always preach to our subjects is peace this is because peace is panacea, necessary requirement for the development of any society.
“We should continue to pray for them rather than to curse them, praying for them will bring more good things and will also bring peace, unity and national development.’’
Angbazo noted that the security challenges facing the country had affected the lives, socio-economic and infrastructural development of the country negatively.
“Hence there is need for all of us to pray fervently for God’s intervention to tackle the nation’s challenges.
“Without peace, you cannot be here to interview me and no meaningful development can be achieved in any society without peace. Peace is priceless and non-negotiable.
“There is the need for the people of the diverse ethnic and religious groups to co-exist peacefully for the development of the country, God that created us did not mistake but created us to embrace, show love and tolerate one another,” he said.
Angbazo urged Nigerians to also live as brothers and sisters in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran.
While commending his people for living in peace and harmony with one another, he advised them to support government at all levels in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
The traditional ruler also advised youths to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and to embrace government programmes aimed at national development. (NAN)
