Head coach of Egypt’s national team, Hector Cuper, will be dismissed if they fail to defeat Nigeria, in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month.
It is understood that the country’s FA, was not pleased with the Pharoah’s performance in their friendly game against Burkina Faso last weekend.
“Cuper has been given a two-match ultimatum by the Egyptian Football Association,” a source is quoted as saying by African Football.
“He has been told to beat Nigeria and ensure Egypt qualify for Gabon 2017 or face dismissal.
“EFA chiefs were not impressed with the team’s performance against Burkina Faso and have warned Cuper to shape up and pick valuable points in Kaduna and Alexandria, if he hopes to retain his job.”
The terms of Cuper’s contract, stipulates that Egypt must qualify for the 2017 AFCON, which they last participated in 2010.
Nigeria welcome the Pharoahs on March 25, before travelling for the return game four days later.
