Suspected cultists have allegedly shot dead a 23-year-old boy identified as Suleiman, while his 82 year-old ground mother, Sherifat Lateef was wounded with gun bullets at their residence in Oke-Ijebu, Owo local government area of Ondo State, DAILY POST reports.
Reasons for the attack on the family is still unknown as at the time of filing this report.
But it was gathered that the bandits who rode on a motorcycle allegedly shot into the residence of the victim.
Suleiman died instantly while his grandmother was rushed to the Federal Medical Hospital, (FMC), Owo.
Already, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the FMC morgue.
A police source told DAILY POST that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of the deceased.
The Ondo state Police spokesman, Mr Femi Joseph confirmed the incident, saying the case has been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence (DCII) of the state Police Command for further investigation.
He stated that preliminary investigation suggested that the case was that of cultism, adding that the police will get to the root of the matter and that anyone found culpable would be charged to court for prosecution.
