Suspected cult related violence has led to fresh killings in Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers state.
Ikwerre which is the LGA of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is one of the worst hit with unabated cult clashes.
DAILY POST is reporting that a man identified as Uchechukwu was shot dead at Igwuruta community in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Uchechukwu who is from Ulakwo in Etche Local Government Area of the state was shot dead by unknown gunmen Sunday night in his room at Igwuruta.
One of the victim’s neighbors who confirmed the incident to newsman said they heard a terrible noise when the armed men broke into the victims apartment and shot at will.
Uchechukwu’s neighbour who begged to remain anonymous for fear of being attacked, said they found the victim in the pool of his blood.
Similarly, a yet to be identified middle-aged man was attacked and killed by suspected cultists at Ipoo community in Ikwerre Local Government area.
The victim was inflicted with machete wounds and had his head chopped off. Sources said the incident happened after gunmen invaded a football viewing centre in the community, where the thirty-one-year-old man was shot dead and beheaded by the assailants.
A police officer in Ikwerre Local Government Area, who also confirmed the killing, said two people have been arrested over the crime.
