The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of some persons in Mgboduohia village, Rumuorlumeni, in Obio-Akpor Local government area of the State.
The victims were reportedly killed in a cult clash in Mgboduohia when armed hoodlums invaded the community early Sunday shooting their targets.
The hoodlums, according to eyewitnesses, moved from house to house in search of rival cultists in the area and succeeded in killing at least eight of their target.
Confirming the incident, spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said the killings were as a result of clashes between rival cult groups.
“When we went there, three people were dead and many others were down with serious gunshot wounds.
“They are cult boys haunting themselves and it is just unfortunate that innocent members of that community have to witness that carnage.
“We have deployed our men to the community and they will keep vigil there to ensure that innocent lives are not taken by these senseless boys,” he said.
