Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial district, John Owan Enoh has disclosed that several residents of Cross River State would defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) any time soon.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance who announced his defection and was formally received by his APC colleagues on Tuesday, explained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been badly damaged, noting that no serious minded politician will continue to remain in that kind of fold.
He added that his defection was long overdue as a result of pressures from his constituents.
“I have been under pressure from my constituents to defect to APC for quite some time now, but I have decided to hold on to see if we could solve the problems in PDP”, he said.
“The leadership crisis in PDP is irreconcilable and no politician worth his salt would continue to remain as it is now”, he added.
He declared that Cross River people were set to defect enmass, stressing that he was the one that has been delaying them.
Against the suspicion that Cross River state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade was not carrying him along in party affairs, the lawmaker explained: “that cannot be the reason for my defection.
“I am a grassroot politician and I know what it is to play politics, particularly, people want to identify with power of the day”.
