Cross River govt. cautions youths against cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping

Cross River State Government has called on youths to shun cultism, arm robbery, kidnapping and embrace peace and development.

Cutting the tape to flag off the City Walk to mark the World Science Day for Peace and Development, the Deputy Governor of Cross River, Prof. Ivara Esu urged young people to stay away from vices that brought about acrimony, cultism and arm robbery.

Prof Esu further said, “Our youths are precious and they should stay away from kidnapping, things that do not bring peace in the environment, that do not bring peace in the world, and young people should not involve in retaliatory issues.

“As we mark this day, we should know those things that bring about peace and development, we should make sure that we stay away from those things that bring about acrimony, cultism, arm robbery, kidnapping, don’t involve yourself on things that do not bring in peace in our environment and the world.”

Earlier, the Director General, Cross River State Political Network, Prince Michael Nku Abuo (JP) said the State had model of leadership that was unique and peculiar, noting that the Governor and Deputy were both scientists and that i wass their innovation and creativity that they have utilized in impacting life.

“So, we are telling our young people, irrespective of your background, you can become successful in what you fine yourselves doing. We are using this opportunity to ask young people to stay away from crimes.

“I want to encourage young people to study hard, stay away from crime, shun social vices, continue to promote peace, encourage young people to endorse the leadership strive of our Governor, he is one person who has brought development across the entire eighteen local government area of the state,” he said.

Abuo who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade on student’s affairs and youths Mobilization, said the city walk was to mark the international day for world science day for peace and development.
