Cross River government appeals to workers to suspend strike, commends DAILY POST for objective repor

Commissioner for Information and orientation, Cross River State, Mrs Rosemary Effiom Archibong has commended the management of DAILY POST for objective and balance reporting. “I like the way the medium handles issues objectively, giving all sides opportunity and balanced as well as reporting accurately.”

Speaking with our Correspondent on Monday in her office, Mrs Archibong said that the organization should continue with the good work.

Interestingly, while Commenting on criticism against Governor Ben Ayade, the Commissioner said, Gov. Ayade should not be boxed into political sentiment but should be encourage and assisted.

Her words, “It is actually pathetic for anybody to say that Governor Ben Ayade has not done anything in the state. I don’t think we need to politicize everything, we are all working together for the development of Cross River and it calls for unity of purpose, commitment and encouragement.”

She explained that the projects and the program of the government are not wish-wash program, the magnanimity of the humongous project that the Governor is putting down, some of them are not things that are immediately feasible but we as Cross Riverians will sit back to sing praises of Governor Ayade in due course.

“Garment Factory is already on ground and all eyes have seen, people from outside the state get so amazed at that kind of humongous project. Our young men and women are already employed. Cross River State has been exposed as the first in the country that harbours Garment Factory.”

“That one is there, the Calapharm that is going to produce all kinds of drugs, the one that will fight Lassa fever and other drugs for our children, the infrastructure are there, equipment are available, once the infrastructure is completed, we will see the equipment installed.”

The Commissioner explained that Right now, work is ongoing in Boki to link the East Boki and West Boki. “From the creation of the state, these two sister communities of the same local government have been separated by gully erosion and forest, you cannot cross from one to the other without going through other local government areas. For the first time, work to link the two communities is ongoing and in progress.

According to Mrs Archibong, various work at the Jonathan Bye-pass are in progress, a lot of activities are ongoing there. “When the rice city is completed, Cross Riverians will not be looking for job, when the factories that he is envisaging take position of the land, nothing less than 15, 000 of our youths will be gainfully employed,” she stated.

Consequently, on Education, the commissioner said Cross Riverian was going to represent the state internationally in the mathematical subject and for ones, our rating for NECO has been a lot higher, we are now like 2nd, we use to the 2nd to the last and during Gov Ayade’s regime, we have an enhance out thing at external examinations.

“The Institute of Technology Management (ITM) in Ugep owed salaries for several months, infrastructure was there but abandoned, and Governor Ayade has injected money there, paid salaries and of course worked for the infrastructure. The Institution is now producing people in public administration and management”

Mrs Archibong appealed to Gov Ayade’s opponent to join hands to build Cross River State, ”let us put the political divide aside, a good Cross River is for all of us, of course there are issues but if we understand, given the inadequate funds, so much will be achieved, we should support him.

“I again appeal to Cross Riverians and striking unions to come back to work, let us continue in that momentum. As I speak, for over 35 years or thereabout, government printing press have been dead, but right now, the machines ordered by Senator Liyel Imoke’s government have been installed and if we allow continuity and sustainability of governance, we will be printing not just for our state but beyond because it is digital printing press,” she reiterated.
