The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship screening committee, has screened and cleared the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, for a second term.
Ayade was screened at the PDP’s zonal office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State yesterday.
A statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, said shortly after Ayade was screened, he returned to Calabar where he received his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal.
Tambuwal, a Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said Ayade has the best idea of governance in the country.
The statement reads, “Ayade was today screened and cleared to seek reelection as governor of the state by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship screening committee.
“The governor appeared in person before the screening committee which sat at the party’s zonal office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“The governor, who arrived the venue of the exercise at about 3.10pm, was ushered in by the chairman of the committee, Hon. Dr. Muraina Ajibola and the secretary, Rt. Hon. Boyele Debekeme.
“Once the governor was screened and cleared, he immediately left for Calabar where he got a tumultuous welcome by his supporters and party members at the Margaret Ekpo Int’l Airport, after touching down at about 6.15pm.
“After the airport reception, proceeded to receive his colleague governor and PDP presidential aspirant, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State on a courtesy call.
“At the event, the PDP presidential aspirant and former speaker of the House of Representatives, said Ayade has the best ideas of governance in the country.”
