Croatia blames Ancelotti after Modric is ruled out of season

Croatia national team doctor, Boris Nemec, has said Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is to blame, after Luka Modric picked up an injury that rules him out for six weeks.

The midfielder picked up a knee issue in Madrid’s 3-1 win over Malaga on Saturday and will certainly miss the rest of the season.

It is the second major injury Modric will be suffering this campaign, after he missed over four months with yet another knee problem and Nemec says Ancelotti didn’t handle the player properly.

“Ancelotti didn’t spare Luka at all after he returned from his long term injury,” he told Nova TV.

“He played 90 minutes in every match. Ancelotti had put Modric under a lot of pressure, instead of giving him time little by little.

“Modric didn’t get injured because of knock he received but because he wasn’t 100 per cent ready.

“If he hadn’t been overworked, his lower leg wouldn’t go to the side in that tackle and crack.”
