The Nigerian Air Force has given reason for the crash of its fighter aircraft prosecuting the Boko Haram war in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
According to a statement by the Director, Air Force Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa on Friday, the fighter jet veered off the runway and fell into a ditch, on landing at the Yola airport, adding that no life was lost in the incident.
The statement reads, “A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF/457) has veered off the runway at Yola Airport.
“The incident happened yesterday (Thursday) at about 1900hrs (7:00pm) when the aircraft was returning from a late evening attack at the Sambisa Forest.
“The aircraft, on landing, veered off the runway, and stopped at a ditch beside therunway. “No life was lost as both‘pilots on board came outunhurt The statement added that “Investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.”
