Court remands undergraduate operating under influence of Tramadol, ‘SK no Bible’

An undergraduate student of the Ambrose Ali University (AAU) in Edo state, Victor Ebole has been dragged before the Chief Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo state capital.

The undergraduate was arraigned for allegedly breaking into the resident of one Mr. Wale Olumogba forcefully while under the influence of Tramadol.

It was gathered that the accused on August 6, 2018 at about 7:10am behind a hotel at Oba Ile, Akure allegedly burgled the house of Olumogba.

The alleged offence of the accused contravenes section 412 and is punishable under the Criminal Code cap 37 Vol 1. of Ondo State, Nigeria.

However, Victor, in his confessional statement, claimed he was under the influence of 800 milli-grams of ‘Tramadol’ and ‘SK no Bible’, a brand of India hemp also known as Marijuana.

In her ruling, the magistrate, Victoria Bob-Manuel ordered the remand of the accused person in Olokuta Medium Prison, for the mean time.

Bob-Manuel, who emphasised that the court noticed the influence of the controlled drug on the suspect, asked officials of the Olokuta prison to transfer him to a suitable hospital for treatment.

“The remand was in order to give time to locate his relatives because if granted bail, he would not be able to perfect it,” Bob-Manuel said.

The case was then adjourned till August 20, 2018 for mention and bail consideration.
