A Senior Magistrate’s Court sitting at Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on Friday sentenced one Adeniyi Taofic, a mechanic, to four years imprisonment for stealing a car belonging to one Abraham Anunobi.

The prosecutor, John Ijagbemi of Legal Department of Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, told the court that Anunobi had on October 27, reported the matter at Wuse Police Station.

He said that Taofic conspired with two others, Kudu Ibrahim and Joseph Femi and stole a Toyota Corolla 2005 model; with registration number FD 354 ABC, belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor added that the complainant was at the National Hospital chapel for a programme when the mechanic and his accomplices fabricated a master car key and stole the car, noting that the vehicle was found a week later when they were taking it to Jos, Plateau state.

Taofic pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Senior Magistrate, Shuaibu Ahmed, remanded Ibrahim and Femi, who were docked with Taofic, after they denied committing the offence.

The magistrate in his ruling sentenced Taofic to 4 years imprisonment, Ibrahim and Feme were remanded in prison custody pending further investigations.

He, however, did not give the convict (Taofic) an option of fine, because according to him, the convict has criminal records with the Police.

The Magistrate adjourned the case till November 27.
