Court remands man in police custody for defaulting to pay his children’s monthly feeding allow

An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court on Wednesday remanded Jimoh Ganiyu for failing to pay the monthly feeding allowance of his children.

DAILY POST reports that the marriage between Olatunde Folasade and Jimoh Ganiyu was dissolved on ‎Jan.10,2011 and court ordered the husband to be paying N3,000 on monthly basis.

The petitioner, Olatunde Folasade,35, told the court that the respondent failed to ‎comply with the order of the court.

She said that since 2011, the respondent, Jimoh, ‎had declined to obey the court order which compelled him to be paying a sum of N3,000 monthly as feeding allowance for his children.

The respondent, Jimoh, 40, told the court that he was unable to pay the money because he was able to resolve the issue with his estranged wife after the court judgement then.

The father of two children, appealed to the court to allow him to start paying N3,000 beginning from Jan.31,2017.

The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, however rejected the appeal of the respondent.

She ordered that he should be remanded in the police custody or pay the sum of N10,000 to the petitioner.

Akomolede further ruled that the respondent should be paying N10,000 to the petitioner on monthly basis until he is able to clear the accumulated debt of N216,000 owned since 2011.

The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomodele after the court order adjourned the case to March, 8,2017 for hearing.
