A Kano Magistrate Court, on Friday remanded a businessman, Usman Mohammed in prison for allegedly defiling his neigbour’s 10-year-old boy.
Mohammed, 27, who resides at at Unguwa Uku Quarters Kano was arraigned by the police on a one-count charge of defilement.
The prosecutor, Inspector Pogu Lale, informed the court that one Musa Abubakar of the same address reported the case at Unguwa Uku Police Division Kano, on July 15.
Lale told the court that on the said date at about 4 pm, Mohammed lured the Abubakar’s 10-year-old son into his room and had canal knowledge of the boy without the victim’s consent.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened section 284 of the penal code.
When the charge was read, the businessman pleaded not guilty.
Following his not guilty plea, the Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril ordered that the 27-year-old be remanded in prison custody.
Consequently, Jibril adjourned the case till August 24.
