Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of an Abuja Federal High Court on Wednesday remanded an associate of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Mr. Abiodun Agbele, in Kuje Prison.
The judge ruled that Agbele was to remain in Kuje prison till Thursday when his application for bail will be considered.
Agbele was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on an 11 count, charge of money laundering involving the sum of N1,219,000,000 said to be part of N4,685,723,000 allegedly transferred from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA.
EFCC also arraigned Agbele alongside Sylvan Mcnamara Limited, a company owned by former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.
Agbele, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges leveled against him.
Earlier, counsel to Agbele, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, had urged the court to consider a bail application of his client on liberal terms.
But the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Johnson Ojogbane who objected to the motion, prayed the court to remand Agbele in prison throughout the period of the trial.
Ojogbane contended that instead of granting the accused bail, the judge should rather grant an order of accelerated hearing on the matter.
