A magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, Friday remanded a 54-year-old man, Oluwatoyin Oladipupo, alongside his son, Oyeku Oladipupo (30), for allegedly stealing palm fruits valued at N250,000.
They were both charged on a two-count charge of damaging and stealing of palm fruits belonging to one Rafiu Bello.
According to the police prosecutor, Asp Adegoke Taiwo, the accused persons committed the offence on 9th July 2019 at Okinni, a suburb of Osogbo metropolis.
He said the two accused persons encroached on a farm and stole farm produce contrary to and punishable under section 309 (9) of the criminal code, Cap 34, Vol II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them as their counsel, Barrister Susan Ajeigbe, prayed the court to grant her clients bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Olusegun Ayilara, adjourned ruling on the bail application till 17th July, 2019 and ordered the two accused persons to be remanded at Ilesha prison.
