Court remands eight suspected terrorists in Suleja Prison

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered that eight persons accused of carrying out acts of terrorism and belonging to a terrorist group be remanded in Suleja Prison until September 20, 2017 when the case would come up for hearing.

The defendants, Mukau Mohammed, Abdulmumuni Idris, Abdullahi Maigari, Ismaila Ibrahim, Ibrahim Mohammed Madaki Mamman, Abu Sani and Umar Abdullahi were arrested in October 2016.

They are facing a three-count charge bordering on terrorism and belonging to a terrorist group.

According to the prosecuting counsel, Malik Taiwo, they allegedly attacked Natako, a village in Lokoja with sophisticated weapons and killed Ibrahim Abubakar, the chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Kogi Chapter.

The counsel to the defendants, G.O. Adih, did not object to the prosecutor’s submission.

However, in the charge read to the accused in Hausa through an interpreter, they pleaded not guilty.
