The trial of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, was on Friday adjourned till April 12 and 19 by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Badeh is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for a 10-count charge of criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune of N3.9bn.
Justice Okon Abang had adjourned the matter till today for further cross examination of the first prosecution witness, Salisu Abdullahi Yushau, but was adjourned till April 12 and 19 for cross examination of the prosecution witness.
Yushau, a former Director of Finance and Account with the Nigerian Air Force between October 2010 to December 2013 had previously told the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja how the former Chief of Defence Staff had diverted for personal use funds meant for the salaries of Air Force personnel.
The EFCC witness had testified how he helped Badeh converted the sum of N558,200,000 to dollars and personally handed it over to the former CDS at his then official residence in Niger Barracks in Abuja on a monthly basis.
Corroborating the allegations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Yushau told the court how Badeh purchased a house in Maitama Area of Abuja for the sum of N1.1bn which was from funds meant for the payment NAF personnel salaries.
The EFCC had accused Badeh of illegally using N60m to renovate his sons house, which he purchased for N260m in Abuja, between January and December 2013.
Yushau in his testimony revealed how he aided Badeh to purchase houses for his sons in choice areas in Abuja.
