Council polls:‎ Yobe restricts vehicular movement

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State has approved the restriction of vehicular movement throughout the state from 10.00 p.m. today, Friday, to 2.00 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday.

This is part of measures to ensure adequate security for the Local Government election taking place tomorrow across the state.

The decision to restrict vehicular movement was taken following consultations with heads of law enforcement and security agencies in the state.

The statement, signed by Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, Chief Press Secretary to the gov‎ernor, made available to newsmen on Friday said, only vehicles on election duty or on other emergencies with valid clearance will be allowed to move during the period of the restriction.

The governor urges all registered voters throughout the state to participate actively in the election and use the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice to lead at the local government level.

The governor also urges peaceful and orderly conduct as people go to the polls.
