The council chairman of Toro LGA of Bauchi State, Danlami Garba Mohammad has said there was no report of violence or arrests in the course of Saturday’s bye- election in the area.

He however pointed out that farming activities were responsible for the low turn out of voters during the exercise.

Mohammad disclosed this to DAILY POST, in an interview in Toro on Saturday, stressing that the government had provided adequate security to ensure free and fair election.

“So far since the election commenced from morning, there has been no report of violence or arrest of any person because all is peaceful,” he said.

He stressed that INEC will conduct free and fair election in 2019 from the looks of things, since no report of connivance was raised by the opposition.

The council chairman assured that APC will concede defeat if the people voted against it.

According to Mohammad, the election did not experience any rigging but was free and fair.

“I expect that APC will win the bye-election at the end as a demonstration that the party will win in 2019.”

DAILY POST however gathered that there were reports of ballot box snatching in Jamaa, Magana Gumau among other places, but could not verify those responsible.
