Miss Monica Onuoha, an Abia state indigene and a 2012 batch ‘A’ corps member who was posted to Kaduna State, had constructed an eight room youth corps member’s lodge at her Place of Primary Assignment, Community Secondary School Sabon, Gaya, Kaduna state.
The building was commissioned on the 31st of January with various media houses present.
Monica said she spent about N5million on the project. She had asserted that she raised the money from the community, based on some individual’s goodwill.
According to her, the people proved their love for corps members by contributing towards building a home for them. She said the money she got from the people was able to pay the contractors and acquired all that was needed to set up the building.
During her speech, Monica had opined that she was involved in other activities like donation of books to schools and hospital materials among others.
She expressed her profound gratitude to all Batch ‘A’ corps members in the same school for their support and teamwork in making the project a reality.
There was much joy on the faces of the NYSC officials and the Local Government officials who were in attendance. Some of her donors were also present.
